Our stay at this hotel was excellent. All staff were very friendly and polite. After reading some reviews previous to our stay, we were a bit dubious. But our worries were unnecessary. The food here is excellent, all freshly made and nothing 'warmed up'.
I would say though on our first night, the couple in the next room had no consideration whatsoever for people sleeping. It was 4am before they stopped their very loud conservation, but that has no bearing on the hotel itself or its staff. Read less

But there is a beam just over the first down staircase: just at the level that bending forward to look down it my sixfootfour frame thumps its head hard. Shorter people probably OK, but some (brightly coloured) carpet glued to the concrete beam would be much appreciated Read less

Quirky collection of buildings at different levels - room was big. Quite fun
Dislikes:
TV flat screen was cracked. Shower head fell off and wouldn't stay in its holder. Nobody at reception on leaving. No invitation for feedback.

This hotel is easily located, situated in the middle of Emsworth and has a small car park at the rear. The building is old and a little shabby in places but is generally comfortable. Our double room was adequate and clean. A word of caution: some bedroom doors are very low. I had to duck in 7 out of the door & I am only 5'2" Also some stairs are very narrow and windy. Some less agile folk mind find accommodation a little challenging. Read less

The room was a fair size, the bed comfortable and linen/towels spotless. Tea making supplies were v generous. With one exception (the shower) everything was in good repair. Breakfast was excellent.
Dislikes:
No staff around for check-in. We had to go search for assistance. Similar experience at breakfast. The only redeeming feature was that once staff were found they were both friendly and helpful.

Good tasty cooked breakfast. Curry night on the Wednesday - Curry and a pint for six pounds per head. Very tasty curry. Staff were friendly if a little disorganised.
Dislikes:
Room was at the top of three steep flights of stairs. TV was rather small size. Poor selection of jams at breakfast - one morning they ran out entirely. One noisy disco night.

we had an excellent curry night, a few drinks with very friendly locals, anything we asked for from the staff
was not too much trouble for them. The beds were very comfortable and we had a really good night's sleep, the breakfast was excellent and set us up for a busy schedule that day
we will stay at the crown again maybe for two nights next time. Read less
